Scandia Heritage Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and celebrate Scandia's rich history, culture, arts, and rural character. The following values guide our work:
SENSE OF PLACE: We embrace the charming, unique character of our community, recognizing its roots as a home to Ojibwe and Dakota tribes, Minnesota's first Swedish settlement, a historic center of mercantile business and agriculture – as well as its relationship to the Wild and Scenic St. Croix River and Minnesota Lake Country.
PRESERVATION: We believe that preserving and renovating our historic resources enhances our community character, links us to our roots, and creates a more vibrant community.
COLLABORATION: We believe that working together with groups and individuals who share similar values and goals – both in Scandia as well as throughout the St. Croix River Valley and neighboring communities -- is essential to achieving our mission.
INCLUSION: We believe that bringing residents together and tapping into their inherent talents will enhance our sense of shared community.
ADVOCACY: We will advocate for our goals at every level of government, within our community, and throughout the region, becoming a strong voice for our mission.
